Volunteers

At Toronto Private Hospital we believe volunteers are an important asset to our hospital.

The Volunteer Program’s aim is to provide the highest possible care and comfort for Toronto Private Hospital patients, by supplementing the activities of the regular staff. We have recently decided to expand the role of our volunteers by assisting with the patients. Toronto Private Hospital would like to encourage the local community to come and join our dynamic team.

The program for Volunteers Includes:

  • Assisting with fundraisers.
  • Patient Orientation: Card with room phone numbers; room orientation; public/private toilets; family rooms; drink/coffee; tissues and water jug; patent brochures/handbook.
  • Patient assistance/sitters: Flower freshening; cleaning bedside tables; diversional therapy e.g. activities/games; reading; conversation with patient and relatives; help fill in menu; help pack belongings; offer bowls to clean teeth; hand rubs.

Our volunteers receive:

  • Orientation to the hospital
  • Free specialised service training
  • Free morning and afternoon tea
  • Free uniform (Polo shirt)
  • ID Badge
  • Awards and certificates in recognition of service
