Dr Robinson is a Newcastle based Psychiatrist with 40 years experience in general adult psychiatry. He graduated from Sydney University Medical School with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.S.) in 1978. Following an internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst, he became Resident Medical Officer at The Royal Alice Spring Hospital.
In 1990, he obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry and accepted the role of Staff Psychiatrist with the James Fletcher Hospital, Newcastle. He joined the mental health unit at Lingard Private Hospital in 1992 eventually moving into private practice by 2007. In 2013 he joined the team at Maitland Private Hospital treating inpatients and still remains a valuable part of the team.
Dr Robinson is a long time member of the College’s Section of Forensic Psychiatry and is recognised as a ‘Forensic Psychiatrist’. As an expert in Military Forensic Psychiatry he regularly writes independent medico-legal reports for the DVA, Repatriation Commission, and the Military Compensation Commission. He is also an authorised report writer for the Workers Compensation Commission of NSW and the Motor Accident Authority (MAA NSW).
